IMPORTANT: This round, the program is only accepting applications from RCD professionals at higher ed institutions across the Midwest region, as this best aligns with the Consortium’s overall goals. We especially encourage applicants from smaller institutions to apply. We will be sure to share updates if the participant pool expands to other regions in the future.

Program Components in Detail

1. Virtual Orientation:

Kick-off session to introduce the program structure, objectives, and expectations.

2. Professional Development Opportunities:

Participants will engage in three main types of professional development activities, designed to build leadership skills, broaden perspectives, and deepen understanding of the full RCD ecosystem: (1) Cohort-Based Merit Program: As a cohort, participants will complete one merit-based training program that cultivates the skills needed for future CI leaders; (2) “Other Facings” Interview: Each participant will conduct a structured interview with a professional from a different “facing” than their own; (3) Optional Engagement: Volunteer at PEARC or contribute to the CaRRC community initiatives.

3. Cross-Institutional Visits:

Cross-Institutional Visits: Rotating visits to UW-Madison (December 2025), UMN (April 2026), and UMich (August 2026) to explore different governance, infrastructures, and leadership approaches.

4. Team Capstone Project:

Collaborative, mentored project addressing real-world RCD challenges.

5. Cohort Engagement and Learning Activities:

Coffee chats, guest speakers, and interactive sessions on leadership, funding, and ethics.

6. Self-Reflection:

Exercises to build self-awareness and articulate leadership growth.

7. Culminating Experience:

Present projects and reflections at the Midwest RCD Consortium Annual Network Retreat..


Application Process:

Applicants may self-nominate by completing the application form. A complete application must include An Application Form; CV/Resume; A “Yes” response to the Time Commitment Question in the Application Form; A Letter of Endorsement from Leadership (Because this training requires full participation, leadership approval is required.
