We’re presenting findings from our analysis of the Midwest Research Computing with Data Consortium (MWRCD) to strengthen research computing through collaboration across institutions. Read the full manuscript here.

What we looked at:

  • Institutional representation across the consortium (Carnegie Classifications, public/private)
  • Social network analysis to identify collaboration hubs and gaps

What we found:

  • R1 institutions like Indiana University and University of Michigan serve as key hubs.
  • Organizations like Case Western and Ohio Supercomputer Center bridge isolated members.
  • Smaller institutions tend to remain on the edges — a big opportunity for deeper engagement.

We will discuss data-driven recommendations to make research computing more connected, inclusive, and sustainable.
